The CFA Charter is recognized as the definitive standard by which to measure serious investment professionals.
The CFA have just released a promotional website listing the names of all the 5,742 people who received the CFA Charter in 2009, of which I was on of them.
You can view the website here and find me by searching for Nicholas Murray. I’m not really sure what the point of it is, but it’s nice to see my name up there.
I’m also now listed in the CFA Public Member Directory, and yes, the information is correct and I am taking on clients who meet my minimum balance requirements!
Well, it’s been less than 24 hours, I’ve risen 13 slots in Google’s ratings and am now appearing on the front page!

I’m going to experiment with a number of different things and track how it impacts my search engine rankings and the amount of traffic to this site.
I will report back my findings on what works and what doesn’t in a couple of weeks.
There are many Nick Murray’s, but only one can hold the Google #1 search result for the term “Nick Murray”.

Today, Google is displaying my site on the 3rd page, at search result number 23. My goal is to get it to number 1 as quickly as possible and to keep it there. Up until now, I have had no need to rank highly in Google but I feel that my time has come. Read the rest of this entry »
I had looked long and hard for a set of social media icons that would fit with the theme of my site.
In the end, I gave up and created my own using a free Photoshop action script from PanosFX.com.
If you like them, you can use them freely on your site. I’ve included the original Adobe Illustrator file together with hi-res PNGs of each of the 3 icons.
Bonus time is almost here. Tomorrow morning after confirming that my account has been credited, I shall be handing in my notice. As you can see, the blog is still in “Development” stage. I’m closer to completing the theme and I’ve got a whole bunch of draft posts that are in a similar state of completeness.
I’m testing the theme in Firefox 2 and 3, Flock, Safari 3 and 4, Opera, IE 6 and 7 and getting it to render correctly in each browser and across multiple clients is no easy task. I’ve learnt a lot about how to accomplish this less painfully and will blog more on this as well as reveling some of the tricks I have used once I get up and running. Read the rest of this entry »
